Covid 19

COVID-19 Continue Response

We posted our reopening plan almost 9 months ago when we felt we were able to open safely.  During these last months there has been no spread within the church, thanks to God's faithfulness and each person taking things seriously and looking after the interest of each other.  As things have improved within the community, we have felt safer opening more ministries. Currently we have Sunday School for all ages, AWANA and youth group.  We also will be starting our life groups (in small batches).  We are also working on our nursery and plan to have it available soon for parents to use if they need to (at this time no volunteers will be working in the nursery).
Below are the things we are doing to mitigate the spread of anything within the church:
- We will continue to open our doors to those that wish to attend in person.  But we also understand that not everyone is comfortable, ready or able to attend services in person. There are also times that those that wish to attend in person cannot for a specific reason. For these reasons, we at Highland Baptist Church, have committed ourselves to be a Hybrid Church. We will continue to live stream our worship services on Sunday's at 10:30.  We also have a new messaging group for Sunday Services for those watching to take part in so they can have that fellowship with those attending in person and watching online with them.  We also are streaming our Adult Sunday School for you to take part in virtually.  The use of the Meeting OWL cam helps make those attending virtually feel like they are part of the class. The link for the class can be found under our ministries page.
- We  have removed some rows of chairs from the sanctuary allowing us to spread out the seating.  This allows families and those in close contact with each other to sit close while also having the ability to maintain distances between people and other families.
- We are ensuring the church is being cleaned to the standard that has been recommended. After use, all surfaces are being disinfected along with our regular cleaning
- Hand sanitizer will be offered in all classrooms and along with being available as you enter the sanctuary.
- We are still suspending our greeting time
- We developed strategies to mitigate congestion within the church
- Sunday School rooms will be set up to allow distancing as needed
- We are asking that if you feel sick or have traveled to an area that has put you at risk, that you would consider staying home and worshiping with us through our online stream
These are the steps we are taking after listening to the guidance we have been provided. In the end, we ask that each person or family make the decision that is best for you. Know that whether you are with us physically or not, you are still part of the family at Highland. We are here for you during this time, feel free to call Pastor Dave (785) 375-8832 with any questions or concerns
